Polaris Ranger Gets a Complete Audio Upgrade

This Polaris Ranger was equipped with a comprehensive audio system. The goal was to build a setup that delivers excellent sound quality, usability, and a clean, integrated appearance.

The solution was our vehicle-specific Polaris Ranger Audio Package, featuring a large 9" touchscreen head unit, front and rear speakers, and a subwoofer installed underneath the passenger seat.

Audio Package Components

• Pioneer SPH-97PF 9" touchscreen head unit with a vehicle-specific NON-DIN installation kit

• Vehicle-specific wiring harness

• Front: Gladen Alpha 165-G2 6.5" coaxial speakers with vehicle-specific speaker enclosures

• Rear: Gladen Alpha 165-G2 component speakers with vehicle-specific speaker enclosures

• Under the passenger seat: Gladen Gamma 10" Slim subwoofer, Gladen ATM terminal amplifier, and a vehicle-specific subwoofer enclosure

Installation Process

The first stage of the project was removing the necessary interior panels to ensure that all wiring could be installed cleanly and safely. Removing the seats and selected interior trim panels makes cable routing significantly easier and allows the wiring to follow the vehicle's original routes wherever possible.

We started with the installation of the new 9" head unit. The large display gives the Ranger a much more modern appearance while making music, calls, navigation, and other functions easy to access. This Pioneer head unit also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Thanks to the vehicle-specific wiring harness, the connections can be completed quickly without unnecessary modifications to the Ranger's original electrical system. The installation kit was fitted into position, the wiring was completed, and the system was tested before final assembly.

Front Speaker Installation

Next, we installed the front speakers.

The front speakers handle a large portion of the music reproduction, so their quality has a major impact on the overall result. The speakers were installed in their dedicated locations, and the wiring was routed carefully to keep it protected from dirt, moisture, and vibration.

After installation, the front soundstage became noticeably clearer and more detailed.

Rear Speaker Installation

The rear speakers were installed into speaker enclosures specifically designed for the Polaris Ranger.

The necessary factory mounting components were removed to make room for the installation. The enclosures were then test-fitted and securely mounted using the supplied hardware. Speaker cables were routed to the rear of the vehicle while remaining protected by the chassis and were carefully finished before the speakers were installed.

Once the enclosures were in place, the speakers were installed and the system was tested.

The rear speakers make a significant difference to the overall system, creating a fuller and more balanced listening experience for both the driver and passenger.

Subwoofer Under the Passenger Seat

The finishing touch was a subwoofer installed underneath the passenger seat. This location provides powerful bass reproduction without sacrificing valuable cargo or passenger space.

Power cables were routed from the battery with appropriate protection, signal cables were connected from the head unit, and all wiring was carefully secured and finished before the system was commissioned.

The subwoofer adds exactly what many UTV audio systems are missing – proper low-frequency performance. Instead of sounding thin and lacking in depth, the entire system now sounds significantly fuller, more powerful, and more enjoyable.

The Final Result

The finished system completely transformed the Ranger's audio experience.

The large 9" display makes the system modern and easy to use, while the front and rear Gladen speakers deliver clean, powerful sound. The under-seat subwoofer adds the low-end performance needed to make music sound significantly fuller and more enjoyable.

This installation is a great example of how a Polaris Ranger can be equipped with a powerful, high-quality, and cleanly integrated audio system without compromising the practicality of the vehicle.

The vehicle-specific enclosures mount securely and blend naturally into the Ranger's interior, creating a clean and almost factory-installed appearance.

No oversized universal enclosures hanging around the cabin and no unnecessary risk of a speaker enclosure coming loose above the driver or passenger. In this system, quality takes priority over quantity.

The result is a Polaris Ranger with a clean, integrated audio system that delivers the sound quality it deserves.
